Varicose Vein Treatment

When leg vein valves weaken or fail, venous reflux can occur, causing persistent pain, swelling, skin discoloration, itchiness, and visible varicose veins that need medical attention. At Vein and Knee Pain Vascular Group, we use modern in-office procedures to treat varicose vein disease safely. Our method is based on YOUR vein anatomy, symptoms, and cosmetic goals.

Discover the difference a vascular-focused approach can make. Relief may be closer than you think—and without surgery.

What are Varicose Veins?

Varicose veins are enlarged, twisted veins that can occur anywhere in the body but are more common in the legs. Although they are not considered a serious medical condition, they can be uncomfortable and lead to more serious problems. Because they may be very noticeable, they may cause people to feel uncomfortable or embarrassed.

Varicose veins are caused by increased blood pressure in the veins. Varicose veins happen in the veins near the skin’s surface (superficial).

Blood moves towards the heart by one-way valves in the veins. When the valves become weakened or damaged, blood can collect in the veins, causing them to become enlarged. Sitting or standing for long periods can cause blood to pool, increasing the pressure within the veins. Due to the increased pressure, the veins can stretch, weakening the walls of the veins and damaging the valves.

Noninvasive Treatments for Varicose Veins

Thеrе аrе vаrіоuѕ trеаtmеntѕ аvаіlаblе fоr vаrісоѕе veins. The best treatment for you depends on your unique venous anatomy:  the lосаtіоn аnd size of the affected vein, thе рrеѕеnсе or absence of ѕуmрtоmѕ, and the presence of accompanying skin сhаngеѕ (for еxаmрlе, dеrmаtіtіѕ, ѕwеllіng оr ulсеrаtіоn).

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy uses an injection of a special chemical (sclerosant) into a varicose vein to damage and scar the inside lining of the vein. This causes the vein to close

Radio Frequency Ablation

Uses radiofrequency energy to heat and close abnormal veins.

Laser Ablation

Laser energy to seal off damaged veins with minimal discomfort and downtime.

Ambulatory Phlebectomy

Surgery that removes varicose veins through tiny incisions, often used for superficial, bulging veins.

Verathna and Venaseal

Varithena utilizes a microfoam injection to collapse the vein, while VenaSeal employs a medical adhesive to seal the vein. Both procedures aim to redirect blood flow to healthy veins and improve symptoms.

NOTE: Generally, Sclerotherapy and Radio Frequency Ablation are the best options fоr trеаtіng vаrісоѕе vеіnѕ.

Diagnose varicose Veins and Venous Insufficiency?

A vein doctor at Vein and Knee Pain Vascular Group performs a physical examination and a complete history, taking note of your symptoms and the appearance of your legs. The doctor may ask additional questions to try to understand your priorities. If you have concerns that you may have venous insufficiency, a duplex ultrasound scan will be conducted. An ultrasound enables a comprehensive evaluation of your venous anatomy.

The doctor will check to make sure you don’t have any blood clots and will see where symptomatic varicose veins connect to the rest of your venous system.
